Parent Yourself is a personal self-care tracker for parents. This page explains what data the app handles, where it lives, and what we do with it.

The short answer: everything stays on your phone. The app sends none of your data anywhere. It talks to one service, Google Play, and only to check whether you have paid.

What the app stores

All of the following is entered by you and stored only in the app’s private storage on your device.

• Your children: date of birth, and first name if you choose to enter one. The date of birth is used to compute your parenting load, which weights the points.
• Your activities: what you log as time taken for yourself, the date and time, the points.
• Your mood: the daily score, if you answer the question.
• Your settings: daily goal, reminders, theme, custom activities.

The app collects no advertising identifier, no location, no contacts, no photos, and no usage analytics.

Where the data goes

Nowhere, unless you decide otherwise. Three cases, and only three.

1. On your device, in the app’s private storage. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
2. In your Google backup, if enabled. Android automatically backs app data up to the Google Drive of the account configured on the phone. That backup is encrypted and the developer has no access to it: it belongs to your Google account. You can disable it in Android’s Backup settings.
3. In the file you export. The Profile screen exports your history to a JSON file, created on your device. What you do with it is entirely up to you, and you can import it back, on this phone or another one.

No third parties, one network exchange

The app contains no ad network, no analytics, and no crash reporting. No third-party SDK receives your data.

Since the subscription arrived, the app requests the INTERNET permission. Google’s billing library requires it to ask the Play Store about the state of your purchase. That is the app’s only network exchange, and your data is not part of it: your activities, your mood and your children’s dates of birth never leave the app’s private storage.

The other permissions Android lists (WAKE_LOCK, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE) are required by WorkManager, the Android library that schedules the daily reminders.

Subscription and purchases

The app installs and runs for free. It offers a monthly or yearly subscription, and a one-off purchase kept for life, which unlock the insights and the advanced reminders. The first thirty days are free, and we do not ask for a payment method.

These payments are handled by Google Play. We never see or store your payment method, your name or your address. Play only hands the app a purchase token, which does not identify you, and which unlocks what you paid for. The app keeps that state on the device so it keeps working offline.

The Play console shows us aggregate sales figures only, with no buyer identity.

To manage or cancel your subscription, go through your Google Play account: we cannot do it for you.

Notifications

If you enable daily reminders, the app asks permission to show notifications. You may decline, or revoke it later in Android settings: the app keeps working, without reminders.

Children’s data

The app asks for your children’s dates of birth, and optionally their first names. This is used only for the local points calculation and never leaves the device. Parent Yourself is intended for adults and is not directed to children.

Your rights

Because your data never leaves your device, you control it directly. Export it as JSON from the Profile screen, edit or delete any journal entry in the app, and uninstall the app to erase everything locally, remembering to delete the Google backup too, if it is enabled. The developer holds no copy of your data and therefore cannot provide or delete it on your behalf. You may lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority (CNIL).

Retention

Data is kept on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. The developer retains none of it.
