Key Information
Swipe and Say is a picture book app for toddlers, to be used under parental supervision. The app does not collect any personal data, contains no ads, and works offline. The only thing that sends any data off your phone is the optional purchases, handled by Google Play — and you are the one who triggers them. Everything you create stays on your device.
No Data Collection
We do not collect anything, do not store anything on a server, and do not transmit any information about you or your child. Specifically:
- no account, no registration, no email address required;
- no usage data, no statistics, no trackers, no cookies;
- no advertising identifiers, no geolocation.
Permissions requested
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
Network access (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE) | Talk to Google Play for the optional purchases. The app uses it for nothing else: no data about you or your child is ever sent. |
Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING) | Open the Google Play payment window. Added automatically by Google’s library, it grants access to no data on the device. |
The app requests no other permission. Apart from purchases, everything happens on the device, offline.
Your Photos (Personal Picture Book)
The “My Picture Book” feature lets you create flashcards using your own photos and words. These photos and words:
- are stored only in the app’s private area on your phone;
- are never sent to the publisher or any third party;
- are deleted as soon as you delete the card, and when you uninstall the app.
To take a photo, the app opens your phone’s camera. To select a photo, it uses the system’s photo picker. It does not access your entire gallery.
Backups
You can export a backup of your content (photos, words, progress) to a file and then restore it. This file is created in the location of your choice on your device. You are solely responsible for it; the publisher does not have access to it.
Purchases
The app offers optional in-app purchases: image packs, an “Unlock Everything” offer, and the personal picture book feature sold separately. These payments are processed by Google Play. We do not see or store your payment method, your name or your address. Play only returns a purchase token to the app, which does not identify you and is used to unlock what you bought and confirm delivery to Google.
On launch, the app asks Google Play for the list of purchases you have already paid for. This is what lets us restore your packs and the picture book after a reinstall or on a new phone, without you having to create any account with us. These exchanges are governed by Google’s privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
Intended for Children, Under Parental Supervision
Swipe and Say is designed for young children, who use it under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
- The app never asks the child for any information.
- The store and settings are protected by two levels of parental controls: a long press, followed by a simple math question. This prevents any access or purchases initiated by the child.
Since no personal data is collected, the app is designed to comply with data protection rules applicable to minors, including the GDPR and Google Play’s “Families” program.
No Ads, No Third-Party Tools
The app does not display any ads. It does not include any analytics, tracking, or third-party ad network tools.
Security
Since your data never leaves the device, its security depends on that of your phone. We recommend protecting your phone with a passcode or fingerprint.
Your Rights
We do not hold any personal data about you; therefore, there is nothing for us to view, correct, or delete. To delete content created within the app, delete your cards, use the reset option in Settings, or uninstall the app.
Changes
This policy may change as the app evolves. The date of the last update appears at the top of the document. In the event of a significant change, the new version will be published in the same location.
